2007 San Diego Fires


If there was an Academy Award for videos I'd nominate this one, submitted by Donna Davenport Deslatte '64. You better make some popcorn and grab a coke. This is a time-lapse movie taken from Mount Miguel looking toward San Diego. I lost track, but I think the moon set five times -- and the action doesn't really start until around day four.
Cheri Marassi Carry '64 forwards this fabulous shot of the Harris Fire. She thinks it was taken from the deck of the USS Reagan. I'm voting for Point Loma. The photo below WAS taken from the deck of the Reagan. It shows the sun coming up over San Diego through the smoke from the Harris Fire.
Doug Kvandal '66, lives on the south side of Mount Helix. He opened the drapes and, at 4 AM, took this photo below of fires surrounding Mount San Miguel. The lights in the foreground are Casa de Oro.
