The Kari & Keira Lyn Parker Foundation

Dear John:
Though we’ve never officially met (to my knowledge!), I have enjoyed your newsletter for years, as well as your Happy Fry Day Emails. By way of jogging your memory, you may remember that just about a year ago (June 28, 2007) my daughter-in-law and granddaughter were killed in car accident on I-10 near Quartzite, Arizona. Kari and Keira Lyn Parker were the wife and daughter of my son Matt Parker who teaches and coached baseball at Fallbrook High School for many years. You were kind enough at the time to call my house with supportive wishes and, as well, to publish an obituary in the newsletter.

I would like to share some news with you, a year later:

The family has created the Kari & Keira Lyn Parker Foundation, a non-profit organization that will raise funds for scholarships, special school projects and other programs designed to support needy children. The web site is 2k4kids.com. Supporters can go there to find out about the Foundation’s mission and goals, about Kari & Keira Lyn (includes a very special video), and to find out about upcoming events.
The first event will be held on August 2, 2008: It will be a “2-K” (Kari & Keira) fun-run, walk, mom and stroller walk to raise funds for the foundation. It will be held at Great Oak High School in Temecula where Kari taught school prior to her death. Registration fees are $25 and that will include a t-shirt and a water bottle. There will be food, games and give-aways. The “run-walk” will take place on the football field/track. Anyone interested in participating or just donating can register on-line at the 2k4kids.com web site.
