The Saratoga was probably enroute from Pearl Harbor to Coronado on June 17, 1940


The Saratoga was enroute from Long Beach to Bremerton on October 31, 1941, and emerged from Drydock #4 on November 15th.

Sara won her second "E" for Engineering efficiency on August 29, 1939 allowing her to sport a hashmark under the E on her stack. This photo was taken sometime after that, but before she won a third "E".

The three Fry brothers, and their buddy Martin. E. E. Fry, who apparently went by "Freak" during this period kneels in the foreground. J. J. "Jeff" Fry (my father), brother K. M. "Mutt", and buddy Martin all sport cigars.
