Association of Naval Aviation

San Diego Squadron

June 20th Luncheon

Guest Speaker

VADM Thomas Kilcline

Commander, Naval Air Forces

Eschewing the microphone, the Admiral worked the crowd, talking about the state of Naval Aviation -- getting Hornets to last until the F-35 enters the fleet and trying to cobble together enough P-3s. On a positive note, he waxed rhapsodic about the "Romeo" and "Sierra" Seahawk models -- apparently "not your father's helicopters". He said a rotary pilot might serve as CAG in the not too distant future.
It may look like he's describing a dogfight, but he's actually talking about bundles of wiring destroyed in a fire aboard the USS George Washington
CONA? Neither a soft drink nor a Hawaiian coffee, it stands for Centennial of Naval Aviation -- and the admiral is on top of it
