Pacific Plaza Drug King circa 1968

(Posted on Greg May's Vintage San Diego Facebook page on October 20, 2020)
Pacific Plaza Shopping Center replaced Brown Military Academy in 1959.  Drug King, at 1792 Garnet Avenue, in Pacific Beach, held its Grand Opening on December 1, 1960.  In subsequent years it became a Thrifty Jr., Rite Aid and Sav-On.  It is currently a CVS.

The 1945 Howard Rozelle aerial of Brown Military Academy above looks northwest across the intersection of Lamont and Garnet.  At the left you can see the arch where Kendall Street dead ends.  The auditorium-gymnasium behind the arch is about where Drug King is in the photo at the top.
