The Ring
Hello John.
I am 16 and live in Indiana, near the town of Warsaw. I want to thank you for taking the time to help me with the ring. I want some one to have something so valuable back. The ring was in bad damage when I found it but I cleaned it so I could read it. I thought it was my aunts for the longest time until my grandma told me what school she went to. Then I knew it wasnt hers. Now I'm trying to figure out whose it is so I can return it to the owner. The initials are either MW or WM, but I'm leaning toward WM. My Aunt had it when she died. I dont know how or when she got it. My aunt was from Indiana but she later moved to Arizona.
Maybe it's Mark Wittenberg who was in our class but Mark passed away several years ago.
Hi John
Interesting about the ring. It HAS to belong to someone in our class with those initials, and how many can there be? MW? Michael Wade. Michael Ward, Michael Weaver, Mark Weissman, Michael Wilbur,Michael Wise
WM? None
WOW. My ring was stolen along with my entire jewelry box in late 70's or early 80's, but I've never been to Indiana. It was stolen from a little cottage I lived in on 39th Street. My initials are VW, and I cannot remember if my middle initial L was also engraved. I can't imagine that it could actually be mine with just misinterpretation of the engraving, but wouldn't that be something?
John -
My Crawford ring was stolen in a residential burglary in 1981 in Culver City, CA. My name before marriage was Mary Susan Wilkerson, though I didn't use the "Mary." I don't remember what was engraved in my ring. It was, of course, a women's (smaller) ring and for the '71 ring the stone was set "sideways," that is across the finger. It was a blue stone, but I think they all were.
Cheers!
