USS Saratoga CV-3
Arresting Gear Crew --1934 Cruise

Admiral David Sellars in his flagship USS Pennsylvania got his 104 ships and 46,000 men underway for the 1934 Cruise on April 9th. On May 31st, as the fleet neared New York Harbor it passed in review of President Franklin Roosevelt, who watched from the cruiser Indianapolis. The Saratoga and Lexington spent much of June tied up at New York City's Pier 90. Sara operated along the East Coast until September, when the fleet began to make its way back to the West Coast, arriving off San Diego on November 8, 1934.

The photo above was donated by Mary Slaughter, daughter of deceased Saratoga Shipmate William G. Reynolds. Perhaps you can make out the names on the back.
