Transferred to New Construction on the seaplane tenderUSS Chincoteague (AVP-24), Chief QM (AA), 1 May1943. I left the Chincoteague as an Ensign 4 Aug 1944. 44-46 12th Division: I became Water King after Iwo Jima. I kept track of the ship's fresh water supply. I also took readings of the salinity of the boilers. I also stood watch topside to see if any of the boilers were smoking and would tell the boiler room to clear up the smoke and I would connect the fresh water line to the ship when we were in port. I was stationed in the same office as the Oil King and we had the same Chief Taylor |
