Edgemont Street

My Dad's sisters -- Frankie and Esther -- lived next door to one another, at 1744 and 1748 Edgemont Street, since perhaps before World War II.  The photo above was taken in October 2020 by Google Streetview.  I don't know the particulars, but the Frys not in Guam moved across the street from Frankie and Esther and I transferred from Bancroft Elementary in Spring Valley, to Brooklyn Elementary in South Park -- or Burlingame as it was known then.

This is the place we stayed at across the street from Aunt Frankie and Aunt Esther.
That's me with the garbage can and Aunt Frankie's house in the background.

I'm wondering, by the length of Mom's hair, if this photo and the one above in Pepper Grove might have been taken on a visit from Long Beach, before we even moved to Edgemont Street.

I'm not exactly sure of the next sequence of events, and I'm not aware of any photos, but Mom, Vicki and I stayed with friends in the Navy housing next to the Loma Theater, where I briefly attended Dewey Elementary.  Before long we were living in an apartment in Normal Heights north of Adams Avenue, where I attended John Adams Elementary School.

By the time we finally got our orders to Guam we had to go,
kicking and screaming, back to Navy Hospital for a new set of shots.

NEXT STOP:  GUAM
