Long Beach, California

Where my sister Vicki was born on August 2, 1946  in the Long Beach
Naval Hospital. We lived in Navy Housing at 1909 West Willard

Dorothy, Jeff and John • Dorothy and Baby Vicki

Grandma Rachel Fry and her sister-in-law "Aunt Jeannette" McQuown • Getting a Navy haircut from my dad • Vicki

That's three candles on my birthday cake, so it must be October 4, 1946

I'm guessing this is Halloween 1946 and I must be Casper the Friendly Lone Ranger

That's Grandma Marie Schaeffer Beall, me, Vicki and my cousin Johnnie
Schaeffer.  The back of the photo says "Marie and her 3 grand kids.  6-47".

I don't know who those other kids are but I'm the one with the neatly-parted hair.

Looks like Grandma Marie is ready to hit the road

That might be me pointing to the fuselage of "The Spruce Goose" heading south on Santa Fe Avenue to
Long Beach Harbor where it would be assembled and make its only flight on November 2, 1947

I don't know who the "big kids" are but that's me in a stylish one-piece

That's Mom -- Dorothy Marie Schaeffer Fry -- watering the lawn and doing a Life Magazine pose.

Two shots of Grandma Marie and one of her with her sons Jack and Tom.  I don't know who the ladies are. I suspect all of these were taken at the Long Beach Pike Amusement Center.  Hold on!!  The Western-themed shots are probably from Knott's Berry Farm.

A strip of three photos of Grandma Marie, probably from a photo booth at the Pike

Maybe Grandma Marie is married at this point.  That's her third husband Frank Lomicka
in the photos above.  I don't know who the other couple in the stagecoach might be.

I was always told the photo of me in the sailor suit was taken in a studio on Pine Street in Long Beach.
The Man in the Moon photo looks like something that would have been taken at the Pike.
