Bill Rainey

You all remember Bill as a great football player, but he was the best all-around track man I personally knew.  There was no event he couldn't excel at if he applied himself.  While he won the SDCIF 880 championship as a Junior, he worked constantly on the most difficult event, the pole vault as a Senior, until he broke the school record with a vault over 13 feet.  He is remembered by everyone -- Terry Walker ’62
