SDSU Alumni Center Library Named for
Allan Bailey '60
The library in the new Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center will be named for SDSU administrator Allan Bailey (’64), an alumnus and former dean of the College of Business Administration who spent virtually his entire professional life in service to the university. The naming comes as a tribute from another College of Business Administration alum, Mark McMillin (’79), who designated $500,000 in honor of Bailey’s remarkable career.
Bailey retires this month from his position as chief financial officer of The Campanile Foundation. The surprise announcement of the library naming was made at his October 23 retirement celebration in the Old Quad attended by scores of family members, friends, and SDSU administrators, faculty, and staff.
“Words can’t begin to express the level of my feelings,” Bailey said in thanking McMillin for his gift. “This is something I will treasure as a highlight of my career.”
McMillin, who is chairman and CEO of the Corky McMillin Companies, serves on The Campanile Foundation Board. He described Bailey as “a very special person,” telling the highly respected honoree that he hoped his donation would ensure that “the Allan Bailey Library will carry your name forever.”
