I'm sure you're probably already aware of the San Diego City archive photo compilations of city streets. I just took a lovely tour down El Cajon Blvd. east bound circa 1973, then freeze-framed and screen-captured the attached proof that the mystery Carnation Ice Cream parlor near 67th did indeed exist. Not great resolution, alas, but proof all the same. I went there many times in the ‘70s, too -- Jean Peacock Graham '71

Here's a Google Street View of 6663 El Cajon Boulevard from December 2022.  That may -- or may not -- be the Carnation pictured above.  Interestingly, at the top of the hill, the Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe and Jack -- are still in business.
