Five Points • San Diego • 1954

(This photo  appeared on the Vintage San Diego Facebook page, credited to the Stephen Grooms collection, photographer Joe Courtney, with a "Thank You" to Pea Hicks)

I think this is the intersection of San Diego (on the left), California (straight ahead and up the hill), and Pringle (out of site to the right)

As close as I could get with a Google Streetview shot from February 2022.   Just out of view to the left is the Pacific Highway turnoff from northbound I-5

I have a small collection of city maps, none of which have dates on them.  I'm not sure when they changed La Jolla Avenue to San Diego Avenue, perhaps in the late '40s.  Anyway, I'm guessing Five Points was actually a little neighborhood near where Washington, California, San Diego, Hancock and Moore came together.  Construction of I-5 took out a portion of the neighborhood.
